Sea of Thieves has finally arrived on PS5, and as was expected players have already begun comparing the new version with the original one.

Sea of Thieves Rare Xbox Game Studios diferencias comparativa PS5 Xbox Series X

Sea of Thieves is finally sailing the seas of PlayStation 5. The success of Rare and Xbox Game Studios comes to a new platform so that Sony console users can navigate in unison with Xbox and PC players. But is there any difference between the versions? Is there one better than the others? The first comparisons already appeared on the internet and clear up any type of doubts.

Which version of Sea of Thieves is better?

The answer is simple: none surpasses the other. Sea of Thieves performs and looks the same on PS5 as it does on Xbox Series X|S. In fact, the PlayStation version has the same graphic modes seen on Xbox. You can choose between prioritizing resolution (4K at 60 fps) or doubling the framerate (1080p at 120 fps). In the absence of technical websites such as Digital Foundry, the face-to-face between both platforms is identical.

The only difference is in the way Rare has taken advantage of the capabilities of the DualSense. The PS5 controller uses adaptive triggers to offer different resistances when firing weapons, in addition to transmitting what is happening on the screen through haptic feedback. On the other hand, its built-in microphone allows you to communicate with players without the need for an extra device.

On PS5 it also adds cross-play functions with the rest of the platforms. Wherever you are, you can play with any Sea of Thieves player regardless of the platform. And if you have game data and jump to another system, you’ll continue from the same point keeping all the progress you’ve made.

Remember that Sea of Thieves is now available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Like all first parties from the Microsoft division, it also participates in the Xbox Game Pass catalog. And if this is your first time playing, we’ve prepared a small beginner’s guide that’ll help you start your journey with the full wind behind your sails.
