The first months of 2025 have already brought us a major hit with ’Adolescence’, but it won’t have an easy time topping one of the year’s most anticipated premieres—the second season of ’The Last of Us’ on Max. Millions of viewers were left hanging after the journey of Joel and Ellie seemingly concluded, and while the new trailer is heart-wrenching, the official series accounts raised the excitement even further by sharing an image of the most feared infected: the clicker.
The terrifying stages of infection in The Last of Us
It’s worth remembering that, in the The Last of Us universe—both in the video games and the TV series—there aren’t different types of creatures. Instead, there are various stages of the disease that change how infected individuals transform. Clickers are the most terrifying stage, with their unmistakable, spine-chilling sound. But they’re not the final form—there’s one that turns victims into gigantic monsters.
