Silent Hill f might be coming out sooner than you think, and here’s why
The official ratings of Konami´s newest entry in the saga have provided some minor spoilers and a clue as to the release date window.

Konami’s latest teaser and then trailer about Silent Hill f have built hype amongst the fans who have been waiting since 2022, when it was first announced, to play this game. The good news is that the date seems to be close.
We know so far that players will be adventuring as Hinako Shimizu, a college student who will have to traverse the town of Ebisugaoka, shrouded in a mysterious mist that turns people into terrifying creatures. This will be set in Japan in the 1960’s, and written by Ryukishi07, so a lot of psychological terror is expected.
The ESRB gave us more info
We also already knew that it will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, but there is new information available now, and it’s thanks to the ESRB. Silent Hill f is now rated M, for people ages 17 and over in the US, also PEGI 18 in Europe, and CERO:Z in Japan.
It’s the first game of the franchise to get an 18+ rating in Japan by the way, but what do these ratings tell us? Firstly, the obvious: as it’s written by the ESRB, the game will contain “Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Partial Nudity” throughout.
They also state that players will be using “axes, crowbars, knives, and spears to defend against and kill enemy creatures in melee-style combat. Blood-splatter effects occur frequently as characters are attacked” -notice how there’s no mention on firearms, which may lead to an even rougher experience-, so there are some minor spoilers as well.
It also describes how players might die horrible deaths, see horrible scenes, which is expected, and also some partial nudity.
Could Silent Hill f release in 2025?
The other thing that this ratings could mean, is that the game is near to being gold, and probably Konami has a date set. Ratings tend to happen within the year that the game is released, this is not a rule, but there’s some examples that could point to a 2025 launch:
Also, there’s the most recent case in the franchise: Silent Hill 2 was rated in April 2024, and then released in October. Konami will also launch Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater later in August, so perhaps the window for an October date for Silent Hill f could seem small, but a post-Halloween release in November sounds quite ad hoc.
It is still pure speculation, but there’s enough evidence to suggest that we’ll be happy playing this Japanese horror game by the end of 2025. Let’s hope that they don’t need to delay it, but still this is pure speculation and Konami could have other plans, one can only hope, right?
