Skeleton Crew, the next Star Wars spin-off on Disney+, has been delayed until 2024

The next Star Wars spin-off had been set for release this year, but the actors and writers’ strikes have shifted the entire Disney+ calendar.

Star Wars Skeleton Crew

Nothing is clear regarding the Star Wars seriesrelease schedule. Specially now that both the writers’ and actors’ strikes have put the Hollywood industry on the ropes, which must reach an agreement for any progress to be made. Among the series that have changed their release date is Skeleton Crew, the production starring Jude Law, whose debut on Disney+ was planned for 2023... until now.

As reported by Bespin Bulletin, the series began its filming in the summer of 2022 and concluded the recordings around January or February of this year. At first, the idea was to release it between November and December, but due to the strike, Lucasfilm changed its mind: “As months went by, I kept hearing that a late November release was on the cards and I was gearing up to release that information around three weeks ago, that was until I started hearing rumblings of a delay,” explained the site.

In 2024, but when?

Sources consulted by this insider point out that Skeleton Crew has been delayed until an indeterminate date in 2024, although at the moment not even the release window is clear. They have not been able to verify if the information that points to a delay of a full year is true or not.

Both the second season of Andor and The Acolyte, the series set in the High Republic, they have not guaranteed a premiere in 2024 either, but as of today, Disney has not officially confirmed any delays.

The one that did arrive on time was Ahsoka, a series that has been defined as a kind of sequel to Star Wars: Rebels. Set in the same time period as The Mandalorian, after Return of the Jedi, the series continues the adventures of Ahsoka Tano and their allies, who are searching for Grand Admiral Thrawn. The fourth episode will be available next Wednesday on Disney+.
