Skies of Arcadia hints at its return: it’s the remake many gamers have been dreaming of
This game was released 25 years ago for the Dreamcast and shortly after it was released for the Nintendo GameCube. Will we be able to play it on modern consoles?

It is one of the games that we have had in our minds for many years, but which, like many others, has remained as a desire that we would like to find again when we start our console in the form of a remake. This is the wish of many players, and now there is reason to dream, as SEGA has registered the trademark of Skies of Arcadia, the JRPG that came out in 2000 and that many put on the same level as legends like Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest.
Skies of Arcadia debuted exclusively for Dreamcast (2000) and later landed on Nintendo GameCube (2002), renamed Skies of Arcadia Legends. It was, is, and always will be a very special JRPG for one simple reason: it takes place in a universe made up of islands floating in the air, so the world map is the sky, and our means of exploring it is a giant flying boat.

SEGA’s registration does not guarantee its return, as it may well be due to a renewal of the intellectual property (whether there are plans to use it or not), but the truth is that in recent years we have seen many registrations that later turned out to be the prelude to a remake or remaster: Baten Kaitos, Tales of Symphonia, Tales of Graces f, Suikoden... Dreams are free, right?
It would be a great opportunity for many players to discover it, as Skies of Arcadia was trapped in the physical versions of Dreamcast and GameCube, so there is no way to play it on another platform. An adventure full of epic moments, with a high dose of exploration and a good handful of turn-based combat that would undoubtedly benefit greatly from a graphical facelift and some quality of life improvements, such as a re-adjustment of save points and turbo function, among others.
