Sonic the Hedgehog speeds into Magic: The Gathering with Secret Lair crossover

Three limited-edition Secret Lair drops bring Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles and more to Magic: The Gathering starting July 14.

Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair cards featuring Sonic, Knuckles, Tails and Dr. Eggman in vibrant new artwork.
Update:

Sonic the Hedgehog is dashing into the world of Magic: The Gathering with a high-speed crossover via Secret Lair, Wizards of the Coast’s boutique line of limited-run card drops. Following in the footsteps of SpongeBob, Deadpool and Final Fantasy, this collaboration features three themed drops, each blending iconic Sonic characters and items with Magic’s gameplay mechanics and art style.

Secret Lair is a series of direct-to-consumer Magic sets that reimagine existing cards with new art, themes and sometimes entirely new designs. These drops are not randomized and are only available for a limited time through MagicSecretLair.com.

We're incredibly excited to announce that Sonic the Hedgehog is coming to Magic: The Gathering in the new @mtgsecretlair.com x Sonic Superdrop! Three unique drops beginning July 14th. Stay tuned!

When and where to buy

All three drops go on sale July 14, 2025, at 9 a.m. PT / 12 p.m. ET exclusively at MagicSecretLair.com. Quantities are limited, and based on past crossovers, they’re expected to sell out quickly.

Unlike the full-set Final Fantasy crossover, the Sonic drop is a self-contained collectible that blends nostalgia with gameplay utility. With art from SEGA’s fan-favorite Sonic illustrators and cards designed to synergize across drops, it’s a love letter to both franchises—and a potential Commander deck starter kit in disguise.
