Sony’s surprising findings about PS5 user habits
The company had hypothesized that most players put their console in rest mode.
Like all companies, PlayStation monitors how customers use their products, including habits and features they utilize or ignore. This data helps Sony update consoles and add new features.
In an interview with GameFile, Cory Gasaway, Vice President of Product, Game, and Player Experiences at Sony Interactive Entertainment, revealed a surprising habit among PS5 users. Sony had assumed most players would activate rest mode after gaming sessions instead of turning off their consoles completely.
However, the data showed that 50% of users turn off their PS5 entirely, while the other half use rest mode. For U.S. users, this means starting their console on the Explore page, while users outside the U.S. land on the page of the last game they played.
