‘Spaceballs 2’ releases a new trailer and changes the title fans were expecting for this movie
Now officially titled ‘Spaceballs: The New One’, the long-awaited comedy is set to arrive in theaters in 2027.

Mel Brooks surprised everyone in the middle of last year by confirming something that had been anticipated for nearly 40 years: a sequel to the comedy classic ‘Spaceballs’. This week, during CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Amazon MGM Studios not only discussed the future of James Bond but also unveiled a new trailer for this highly anticipated film, now titled ‘Spaceballs: The New One’.
In the trailer, we see Brooks again, now 99 years old, revealing that the original title ‘Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money’ won’t be the project’s final name, as had been “predicted” four decades ago. The reason is simple: after all these years, Brooks has finally found the money. “It was in my basement!” he says as he shows a bag labeled ‘Spaceballs The Money’.
The Reason Behind the New Title
With the funding secured, Brooks goes on to explain that the film has already been shot, but now has a new name—with a justification so simple—and logical—that only he could come up with: “Well, we did it. And the title is: Spaceballs: The New One. It’s just like the old one, but newer,” he says. “That’s why it’s called The New One. There you have it.”
Still, it will be a while before we can see the return of Spaceballs and its stars, Bill Pullman as Lone Starr and the beloved Rick Moranis as Lord Dark Helmet. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on April 23, 2027.
