‘STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl’ announces another delay, pushing release to November

Stalker 2 slips out of our reach once more as its developers announce the game needs more time, and is getting delayed again due to “Unexpected Anomalies”

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl has just received a new delay, this time getting pushed back from its September 5 release date all the way to November 20, 2024. This was revealed by the studio itself, developer GSC Game World, through the franchise’s official Twitter/X account, with a message explaining their reasons for the delay as well as thanking fans for their support.

The message reads as follows: “We know you might be tired of waiting, and we truly appreciate your patience. These two additional months will give us the chance to fix more ‘unexpected anomalies’ (or simply ‘bugs’, as you call them). We are always grateful for your ongoing support and understanding - it means the world to us. We’re just as eager as you are to finally release the game and for you to experience it for yourself.”

One of the most anticipated games on Xbox

At the very least, this last 2-month delay seems to be focused on polishing and optimizing the title before its release and not so much about integral parts of the development process. After all, the game’s first delays came from the fact that the studio was located in Ukraine at the time of the Russian invasion, which meant that they were trapped in a warzone, with many of the developers even getting drafted into the war.

GSC Game World managed to push through this hardship, and has since been working on what is now one of the most highly anticipated game releases of the year. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl will now be released on November 20, but when it does it’ll be available on Xbox Game Pass for both Xbox Series X|S and PC… although that service recently announced changes to the way day 1 releases will work.
