Stalker 2 gets a new trailer and confirms its release in 2024

GSC Game World is finally ready with their long-awaited open-world RPG sequel, Stalker 2, as one of the main stars at the Xbox Games Showcase

Stalker 2

Things have not been easy for the long-awaited RPG from GSC Game World, since the effects of the war in Ukraine, as well as unforeseen events such as a fire in the studio offices, are only some of the problems they have had to face. Luckily, the light is already waiting at the end of the tunnel, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chronobyl has been confirmed to release on September 5. Plus, its new trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase confirms that it is set to be one of the biggest games of this year.

Why Chornobyl instead of Chernobyl?

The name change from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chronobyl surprised many people, but the explanation behind this decision is very simple. The studio that created the game is Ukrainian and is located in Ukraine, a place where several of its members have been very close to the war, with one of them even losing his life in it. A couple of years ago they decided to change the name because it is the way to transliterate the name into Ukrainian instead of Russian. That is to say, the name change was a declaration of intentions since they rejected the Russian appropriation of the word ‘Chernobyl’.

The first Stalker and its expansions, remastered

Last March, the Ukrainian studio surprised everyone with the surprise launch of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy, a collection that includes the first title in the saga, although they can also be purchased separately (available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC). This is all it includes.

  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl (2007)
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky (2008)
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat (2010)
