Jon Bolerjack will do his best to expose the mistreatment of his friend, for whom he served as an assistant during the last years of his life.

It’s been almost seven years since the death of Stan Lee (1922-2018), the Marvel icon and co-creator of characters such as Spider-Man, Thor, Daredevil, Hulk and The Fantastic 4, among others. That the last years of the American were controversial comes as no surprise, although no one could have imagined what the documentary “Stan Lee: The Final Chapter” is about to uncover, as Lee’s assistant and friend, Jon Bolerjack, has decided to go all the way and tell the truth about the mistreatment and abuse he suffered during the last years of his life.

This documentary will be released if it can be funded through a Kickstarter campaign (the goal is just over $275,000 and at the time of this writing, almost $33,500 has been raised). The short teaser that can be seen on the campaign page is a statement of intent, as Bolerjack himself states that Stan Lee was mistreated, manipulated and even betrayed by “a few very bad actors”.

These are very serious allegations, and although he does not name names in the trailer, Bolerjack explains that “at the time I had no power to stop it [referring to himself], but I had a camera and I filmed everything.” The documentary includes testimony from figures such as renowned American cartoonist Tyler Kirkham, who explains that it was “very hard” to see how these people tried to take advantage of Stan Lee in the adverse health conditions that plagued him during the last years of his life.

A reopening wound

It’s worth remembering that in 2019, Keya Morgan, Stan Lee’s former manager, was arrested after being accused of trying to take advantage of his client’s health to take control of his assets, which is a crime of elder abuse. Los Angeles County also charged him with embezzlement, theft, fraud and forgery.
