Star Wars: How Luke Skywalker Founded the New Order After Return of the Jedi
The first Academy was located on Ossus, but later moved to a temple whose location was secret.
The Galactic Empire crumbles. Darth Sidious and Darth Vader, the last Sith, perish on the Second Death Star. Celebrations are held in many systems across the galaxy, but the Rebellion has its work cut out for it: restoring the Republic and destroying the Imperial remnants. In these first years after Return of the Jedi, the Galactic Concordat is signed, putting an end to Palpatine’s regime, and Luke Skywalker embarks on a quest for knowledge that will allow him to lay the foundation for his future Jedi Academy.
Before beginning the process of restoring the Jedi Order, he trains his sister Leia in the ways of the Force, though the general and princess of Alderaan continues her busy political life, which prevents her from focusing on her Jedi side. The current canon lives and is written month by month, but this part of the chronology has yet to be developed much.
Grogu, Luke Skywalker’s first apprentice
At the end of the second season of ‘The Mandalorian’ and in ‘The Book of Boba Fett’, Luke Skywalker receives his first student, little Grogu. His new apprentice does not last long. He was an initiate at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant during the last years of the Galactic Republic and was saved from Order 66 by Master Kelleran Beq. Little is known about what became of him until he appears in the first season of The Mandalorian, a few years after the fall of the Empire.
The foundations of this first academy are on Ossus, but the aftermath confirms that Luke moved the school to a secret temple, the location of which has not been revealed. It was there that he instructed Ben Solo and the rest of the Padawans before Snoke intoxicated the mind of Leia and Han’s son, who embraced the dark side, attacked his classmates, and destroyed the dream of Master Skywalker, who went into exile after the incident.
In Legends, the end of the Battle of Endor is the beginning of a series of skirmishes throughout the galaxy, so Luke focuses on continuing to help the Rebellion. The resurrection of the Emperor marks the end of this period, so Master Skywalker takes advantage of this moment of relative peace to establish his Jedi Academy. There would be other battles, other wars, and even a reborn Empire.
