Update:
Star Wars Outlaws

The Galactic Empire has lost several battles to the Rebels, but Darth Sidious is not about to accept defeat. Set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Outlaws is the next big game in the galactic franchise. Ubisoft showed it off during the Xbox Games Showcase, but promised more at Ubisoft Forward: a gameplay preview that they’ve finally made available to gamers. Conceived as the brand’s first open-world game, Massive Entertainment is the studio chosen to bring these ideas to life.

This is Star Wars Outlaws

The protagonist of this episode is one of those characters who live outside the law, on the fringes. She gambles, plays cards and hangs out with lowlifes, which causes her some headaches. Under these circumstances, it is obvious that the Imperial authorities do not appreciate the work of Kay Vess and his furry pet, little Nix.

Julian Gerighty, creative director of the video game, emphasized that despite the situation in the galaxy, outlaws have their opportunities. Criminal syndicates are dangerous, but they offer juicy rewards. “If you’re willing to take a chance, the galaxy is full of opportunity. In the gameplay you see below, Nix brings the loot to his mistress. Using stealth, the young woman kills some ruffians and asks her partner to press a button to move a crane. This allows her to hide from prying eyes.

Once discovered, the character picks up their weapons, shoots, and attacks with their body. The game takes the form of a third-person shooter. She then escapes on a speeder, but is pursued by enemies. As seen in the gameplay, it is possible to shoot from the vehicle. Once in the town, it’s time to collect the reward in the canteen. There’s another reward... on her head, so everyone is chasing her, which translates into a very GTA-style chase mechanic. Better to run, take the ship and fly to a safe place... but no! But no! Enemy ships and space battles confirmed.

In the presentation trailer, we could see Kay escaping from the Imperials who come to the cantina where the protagonist is in the mood for a fight. The young woman fights back and quickly flees the place.

Star Wars Outlaws is in development for Xbox X, Xbox S, PS5 and PC. There is no release date yet, but there is a release window: it will be released sometime in 2024.
