Star Wars Outlaws weighed in on the franchise’s biggest debate: did Han Solo shoot first?
The latest Massive Entertainment title, Star Wars Outlaws, is deeply immersed in the Galaxy Far, Far Away. And it has opinions about its classic debate.
Who shot first, Greedo or Han Solo? Harrison Ford, the actor who played the bounty hunter and rebel leader, has been asked and has responded that he doesn’t give a damn, but followers of the galactic saga have been engaged in this tedious debate for years, which has never been fully resolved. The truth is that things change depending on the edition, because in the original version of ‘A New Hope’ it was the outlaw who shot first. Then, later, it was hinted that Jabba’s henchman acted more quickly. Now, Ubisoft Massive Entertainment has given a clue as to what really happened. In Star Wars Outlaws there is an Easter egg that hints at who pulled the trigger first.
In Mos Eisley, one of the most dangerous places on Tatooine, people of all kinds gather. This cantina is the destination for people of all species, but also for bounty hunters. Serving the deadliest criminal syndicates in the galaxy. Han Solo worked for Jabba the Hutt and was one of his best men, but he made the mistake of owing money to the leader of the Hutts. The eternal promise that he would return it stopped working and the slug hired Greedo to collect the reward: Han’s head. The outcome is well known: Killing Greedo and escaping with Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi aboard the Millennium Falcon.
What Star Wars Outlaws says about the matter
Kay Vess, the protagonist of Star Wars Outlaws, goes to the Chalmun spaceport cantina during her journey through the galaxy. There, in the seat where Han Solo and Greedo exchanged words and a couple of shots, you can see a hole in the wall. The blaster remains are located right on the wall behind of the space in which the rebel rested his butt, suggesting that Greedo shot first (or at least, that he managed to shoot and failed in his attempt).
Star Wars Outlaws is available on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC. The director of the video game, Julien Gerighty, has acknowledged that some of the stealth sections during the adventure are a bit frustrating, so it has been reported that it will be adjusted in a future update.
