‘Star Wars’: this is how General Grievous looked like before he became a machine

One of the most popular yet underutilized villains in the Star Wars franchise, General Grievous, didn’t always look like a giant droid. And the comics have just revealed his original appearance.

Star Wars, Grievous

He first appeared in ‘Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith’, but the character has had a presence in ‘The Clone Wars’, the animated series set in this time of galactic conflict. More machine than man, General Grievous was Count Dooku’s lieutenant in the war against the Galactic Republic. In fact, he was trained by the Sith in the Jedi arts, although he did not possess any Force sensitivity. Thanks to his multiple mechanical arms, he could wield several lightsabers at the same time. And yet, beneath that shell, there were organic parts, because he was born of flesh and blood. The comic ‘Star Wars: Age of the Republic’ has now shown his real face.

To date, the ‘Star Wars’ saga had not revealed the real face of General Grievous, but it was possible to imagine it because his species was already known. The cyborg was not a human but belonged to an alien race natural of Kalee, a planet located in Wild Space. It is a reptilian and bipedal type race, which among its characteristics has the yellow color of the eyes - this was maintained by Grievous until the end -, a skin tone that goes from whitish to brown, a flat nose, and elongated ears. Members of this species are not exactly known for their mercy and often wear masks to cover their faces.

In the case of General Grievous, the comic shows a vision that returns him to how he was before mechanical parts began to be implanted, so he still looks like one of the members of his race. He wears a hood that does not blur his elongated facial features; It also shows its lizard-like hands and fangs at the bottom of its jaw.

“The fearsome Separatist General Grievous attacks! In his hunt to kill Jedi, Grievous encounters a power greater than he could have imagined,” says the synopsis of the comic. “What secrets will the cyborg assassin find in a lost Jedi temple?”.
