Starfield leaker has been arrested and accused of selling stolen copies of the game

A 29-year-old man has been accused of several crimes regarding Starfield’s leak, including selling the game and sharing the first 45 minutes of the title.

The Starfield leaks have resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old man. He has been charged with allegedly trying to sell stolen copies of the highly-expected new Bethesda production ahead of its release, which will take place in early September. It was one Darin Harris, who has just been processed by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, in Tennessee, as reported by Kotaku.

What accusations has the Starfield leaker received?

The arrest occurred on August 24, just four days after the first 45 minutes of Starfield leaked online. According to official information, he is charged with $2,500-$10,000 worth of stolen property, a misdemeanor charge for $1,000 or less of stolen property, and a misdemeanor charge for possession of marijuana.

Harris is said to be the person responsible for uploading multiple copies of Starfield to Mercari, a Japanese buying and selling platform, among which are some Constellation Editions. For now it has not been clarified how he even got the copies in the first place.

Harris uploaded a review of the game on Twitter and spoke directly to Todd Howard, director of Starfield. “I ain’t mad. Y’know what happens. That game is smooth. For all the gamers out there who want a different type of game, this is definitely something to get. It takes time, you gonna have to read. You can’t just jump in and do it.”

“Todd, no offense man,” he added, directly addressing Howard. “That’s a good game. Perfect timing, about leaving Earth and all of that, it’s good stuff. Pretty sweet, good moves. They were saying I play like a beginner cause I’m not a game expert I was just trying something out. That’s a good game y’all don’t want to miss it.”

Starfield will be out on September 6 on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Game Pass, and PC. Early access begins on September 1.
