Rocksteady announces that the Suicide Squad game, scheduled for May 2023, will be delayed for almost a full year to “polish” it as much as possible.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League delayed to 2024

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be delayed by almost a year and will finally be released in February 2024. This was announced by Rocksteady, the studio behind the development of the game, in a statement on social media. This way, the title, of which an extensive gameplay was shown in the previous State of Play, will be nine more months in the oven to improve the overall experience of the game. “We have made the tough but necessary decision to take the time needed to work on getting the game to be the best quality experience for players,” the statement reads. You can read it below:

In the same text, they thank the community for its support, patience, and understanding, and affirm that there is much to share in the coming months. “Wee look forward too seeing you in Metropolis next year,” it concludes.

Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier has shed some more light on what happened to the game. According to his information, the delay is to “polish the game” and not to change its essence, despite the fact that many of the criticisms were precisely that it relied on a game service model. According to Schreier himself, the team was informed of this and at no time were they told that the delay was caused by the reception of the gameplay that was seen in February. In fact, the journalist recalls that nine months is not enough time to “completely change the nature of a game”:

Suicide Squad is the new big project of Rocksteady, a studio that was among the most acclaimed a few years ago thanks to the great work they did with the Batman Arkham saga, especially the first two installments. After Arkham Knight, the team has been silent until the announcement of this new title, in 2020. When it comes out, if there is no further delay, nine years will have passed between the two games.

In fact, although its appearance in gameplay a few months ago was clearly superior to that seen recently with Gotham Knights, the truth is that mechanically it was very reminiscent of Batman Arkham, with a certain feeling that the formula was more from the last generation than the current one. Its status as a service game was also not well received by the community.
