‘Superman Legacy’ has officially casted The Engineer, one of the antagonists that form The Authority
María Gabriela de Faría joins the cast of James Gunn’s upcoming ‘Superman Legacy’ as one of the villains that will shape the future of the new DCU.
‘Superman Legacy’, the next movie by James Gunn that aims to kick off the new DCU in 2025, already has its main villain; or at least one of its antagonist characters. The signing of the Venezuelan actress, María Gabriela de Faría, for the role of Angela Spica/The Engineer, one of the members of the antihero group The Authority. This was reported by Screen Rant, confirming a new name that joins an increasingly packed cast for the debut of the new Man of Steel at the cinema.
A large cast for the Superman reboot
Maria Gabriela de Faría adds to an increasingly large cast for ‘Superman Legacy’, a film that already has names like David Corenswet as Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, and Eddie Gathegi as Mister Terrific. Now, with the signing of this actress we have the first stone for the construction of the group of antiheroes already confirmed by James Gunn as The Authority, which will have its own movie in the future DCU.
Maria Gabriela de Faría is a 31-year-old actress from Venezuela who became famous for her role as Isabella Pasquali in the Nickelodeon Latin American youth soap opera Isa TKM. In addition, she has participated in numerous television series and several films, with ‘Superman Legacy’ being her first “big production” in the film industry of Hollywood.
In the absence of knowing the motivations of The Engineer in the new Superman film, it is expected that the character played by Maria Gabriela de Faría follows in the footsteps of her namesake in the comics. So, Angela Spica is a scientist who assumes the identity of The Engineer after the death of the first Engineer, a professional colleague. Her body assimilates a new technology with allows her to cover her body with metal, fly and control all kinds of advanced technological devices.
‘Superman Legacy’ opens in theaters on July 11, 2025, just like reaffirmed recently by James Gunn.
