Terminator 2: Schwarzenegger’s ultimate prank during filming was a Hawaiian swimsuit

The star of James Cameron’s Terminator 2 surprised the cast and crew with a very peculiar look, which also helped lighten the mood during his nude scenes.

Schwarzenegger Terminator 2

Terminator 2: Judgment Day’ celebrates its 33rd anniversary since its official release in theaters at the beginning of July 1991. A film that break the box office at the best moment of popularity of its protagonist, Arnold Schwarzenegger, who turned everything he touched into gold (except for Red Sonja, but that’s a whole other story). Be that as it may, we want to celebrate such an important date with one of the funniest curiosities that go unknown to the general public, which happened to involve Schwarzenegger himself in the middle of filming, before the astonished eyes of the crew: he appeared wearing a Hawaiian swimsuit in a scene in which he had to pretend to be naked.

“I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle.”

The scene in question is one from the beginning of the film in which the T-800 played by Schwarzenegger arrives at the present through time travel, as is usual in the saga, completely naked. Nearby there is a roadside bar, so he heads towards the biker joint to pronounce the mythical phrase “I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle” in front of a biker who can’t believe what he’s seeing. And that was precisely the actor’s goal: surprised faces among the cast of extras.

To simulate that he was naked, Schwarzenegger entered the set dressed only in a loud and colorful Hawaiian swimsuit, leaving the entire team frozen: “Arnold walked into the bar wearing the flashiest pair of Hawaiian-print shorts he could find. And everyone in the bar was supposed to keep a straight face, but actually, everything went well because everyone looked down in surpriseJames Cameron himself commented some time ago.

The result is one of the most badass scenes from the actor’s filmography, leaving the bar dressed in the clothes and accessories of the foolish biker who put out a cigar on the chest of the deadly android of the future and then left with his motorcycle. All this gives us an idea of the sense of spectacle and humor that Schwarzenegger has always demonstrated, even in his most violent and pure action films like the ‘Terminator’ series.
