Terminator Zero, a new Netflix anime set in the Terminator sci-fi universe, has just released its newest trailer yet, and with it we finally have a good look at what to expect from this new adaptation.

Except this time, the story won’t be centered around the Connors, who for long have been a the center of the franchise’s conflicts in different ways. This new trailer gives us a first look at the new Terminator, as well as what seems to be the protagonist of the show, a resistance fighter from the future called Eiko, who has been sent to the past to stop Skynet.

“This isn’t what you think it is, you can’t see it yet, but you’ve been on a collision course your entire life,” says the voiceover in the trailer, narrated by Eiko herself (Sonoya Mizuno). “There’s no going back. Not really. It will never, ever, stop. There’s only one thing standing between you and him: Me.”

A new kind of Terminator

The official synopsis that companies the trailer doesn’t give us much to go by, but it does reveal a cast full of huge stars. “From Skydance, Production I.G, Masashi Kudō and Mattson Tomlin comes one of the most anticipated anime series of the year, TERMINATOR ZERO. Starring Timothy Olyphant, Rosario Dawson, Sonoya Mizuno, André Holland & Ann Dowd.”

Terminator Zero is set to release on Netflix on August 29, 2024. But this isn’t the only animated (or anime-related) release that the streaming platform has planned for its near future: recently we got our first glimpse of Arcane Season 2, got a release date for the long awaited 3rd season of Beastars, and have been getting many teasers of what’s to come when the One Piece live-action adaptation continues with Season 2.
