The actor behind Buggy in Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ shares what story arc of the manga he’s dying to get to film

Jeff Ward, who plays the psychotic clown pirate of Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ live-action adaptation, wants to share new adventures with his friend Iñaki Godoy (Luffy).

Update:
One Piece Netflix

The ‘One Piece’ live-action adaptation by Netflix has been a huge success for the streaming platform, getting raving reviews from both fans of the original work and critics from around the globe. That is why Netflix did not take long to confirm a second season which is already in the pre-production phase, although it will still take us a while to see it. Even so, the actor who plays the clown pirate Buggy in the live-action series, Jeff Ward, is already dreaming of a specific story arc from the manga that he most wants to film; This is what he expressed recently at Fan Expo San Francisco while responding to a fan.

Jeff Ward wants to work with Iñaki Godoy (Luffy) once again.

Jeff Ward really wants to get to the plot arc in which he considers his character shines the most, which is none other than “Impel Down”, where Buggy has a very prominent role alongside Monkey D. Luffy: “I read the first volume,” says the actor about the manga. “I immediately fell in love with Buggy. I would really hope to get to the Impel Down story. Inaki [Godoy] and I really love working together”, acknowledged the actor, but not without adding that he looks ‘super sexy with a ponytail”, joking with fans.

And beyond the peculiar look of Buggy during said story arc, the actor believes that Impel Down is key to the development of his character since he teams up with Luffy to escape the clutches of the villain Magellan. Of course, if the series continues the pace of the first season, there is still a long way to go to reach these events.

And if we take into account the history of Netflix with its series, no one guarantees that the production will adapt all the arcs of the manga if the audience levels are not maintained. At the moment, we have a second season in production which does not yet have a release date.
