‘The Batman II’ reportedly shakes up its cast, with Sebastian Stan no longer playing Harvey Dent

Insider reports claim Brian Tyree Henry could play Dent in Matt Reeves’ upcoming sequel.

Update:

A new report regarding ‘The Batman II,’ the upcoming film directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, may reveal that everything we thought we knew about the cast was wrong.

Sebastian Stan May Not Play Harvey Dent in ‘The Batman II’

According to sources cited by insider Jeff Sneider, Sebastian Stan will not be playing Gotham City’s famous district attorney; instead, he would portray the serial killer Victor Zsasz. The report indicates that Brian Tyree Henry would play Harvey Dent instead, though it is unclear whether he will transform into Two-Face in this film.

Initially, there were rumors that Sebastian Stan would play Harvey Dent, with Scarlett Johansson playing his wife, Gilda Dent, and Charles Dance as his father, Christopher Dent. There’s no confirmation on this yet, but it aligns somewhat with what Matt Reeves announced late last year: that the villain in this film “has never really been done in a movie before.”

Who is Victor Zsasz?

Victor Zsasz, or Mister Zsasz, is a serial killer from Gotham City who is known for scarring his body for each of his victims. The character debuted in 1992 in Batman: Shadow of the Bat #1 and has appeared in video games such as Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City, as well as in the television series Gotham. Zsasz has already made a film debut, albeit in smaller roles in 'Batman Begins,' as a Falcone family thug who is taken to Arkham Asylum, and in 'Birds of Prey,' as Roman Sionis’ (aka Black Mask) right-hand man.

Since this character is described as an adomasochistic, psychopathic serial killer, he fits right into the universe created by Reeves, so he might have enough gravitas to carry the film. But until we have official details, all of this should be taken as speculation.
