Update:

Fans waiting for the final chapter of The Boys can take heart: the series’ showrunner, Eric Kripke, has offered an encouraging update on the production status of Season 5, hinting that the conclusion of the explosive saga is on track for an early 2026 release on Prime Video.

While an official release date for the fifth and final season remains elusive, Kripke recently shared a progress report on his Instagram, confirming that the team is “hard at work” pushing the episode closer to completion. He noted that the editing process is finished and that they are already “roughly halfway finished with VFX, Music, Color.” This post-production timeline suggests a likely premiere in the first half of 2026, delivering on the previously speculated 2026 window.

Highlighting the scope of the upcoming finale, Kripke assured fans of the series’ epic scale, adding, “I’m really happy with how it’s going and can’t wait for you to see. We go out with a bang. COMING (reasonably) SOON.”

Connecting the Universe: Gen V Fallout

The anticipation for The Boys Season 5 is especially high following the dramatic conclusion of the spin-off series, Gen V Season 2. The spin-off’s finale perfectly sets the stage for the final confrontation with Homelander by showing the escalation of the anti-Supe resistance.

Many viewers have speculated that Marie Moreau, the incredibly powerful blood-manipulating Supe from Gen V, could be the perfect weapon to finally take down Homelander. Kripke, however, has tempered those expectations, emphasizing the importance of dramatic tension and character development over instant victory.
