Bad news for Reacher fans: its situation is similar to The Boys, and we’ll have to wait

Fans of ’Reacher’ may need to exercise some patience, as the fourth season of the hit Amazon Prime Video series is unlikely to arrive until 2027, or at the earliest, late 2026. The delay stems from the production of a spin-off series, which began filming in February 2025 and involves much of the same creative team behind the main show. This situation mirrors what happened with ’The Boys’ and its spin-off, ’Gen V’, where overlapping crews caused delays in the flagship series’ release schedule.
The spin-off that’s causing the wait
The spin-off, centered on Frances Neagley, a fan-favorite character played by Maria Sten, is currently in production. As reported by Collider, filming for the spin-off began in February 2025, with Maria Sten sharing updates on social media to mark the start of production. Collider also confirms that much of the creative team is shared between the spin-off and the main series, causing scheduling conflicts.
With filming expected to continue until mid-2025, the spin-off will likely premiere before ’Reacher’ season 4. This scheduling decision ensures fans have something to enjoy in the meantime but also pushes back the timeline for the main series.
This isn’t the first time Amazon has juggled overlapping productions. ’The Boys’ faced a similar situation when its spin-off, ’Gen V’, utilized much of the same crew, leading to delays in the main series’ release. While this strategy allows for expanded storytelling within a shared universe, it inevitably stretches production timelines.
What to expect from season 4
Although details about ’Reacher’ season 4 remain scarce, fans can rest assured that the series will continue adapting Lee Child’s beloved novels.
