The live-action and animated hybrid turns industry controversy into part of its punchline

‘Coyote vs. Acme’ has finally released its first trailer, and it’s a blast from the past
Update:

After a rollercoaster ride of industry gossip, tax write-offs, and other controversies surrounding Warner Bros. in recent years, the film ‘Coyote vs. Acme’ has released its first trailer. This hybrid of live-action and animation features the beloved Wile E. Coyote taking legal action against the Acme company after years and years of defective products. You can watch the trailer below:

“The movie Acme doesn’t want you to see”

The trailer gives us a glimpse of what the story will be about, in which Wile E. Coyote seeks Will Forte’s help to sue Acme after years of defective products in his quest to catch the Road Runner. The film comes with a touch of irony, given what happened during its development, as Acme could easily be seen as a stand-in for Warner Bros. in recent years.

The trailer also features the film’s cast, including Will Forte, Lana Condor, John Cena, and P.J. Byrne, as well as some of the Looney Tunes characters who will join Wile, such as Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird, and Bugs Bunny.

The film arrives after a complicated process, in which, following production, Warner Bros. decided to shelve the movie—even though it had already been completed—with a release date set for July 21, 2023, on HBO MAX. At the time, the film met the same fate as ‘Batgirl,’ starring Leslie Grace, and the animated film ‘Scoob! Holiday Haunt’, which were also shelved so that Warner Bros. could write them off as tax deductions. Ultimately, this is understandable, considering that the film’s trailer even plays on the line, “The Acme Corporation is releasing this film for accounting purposes only.”
