The detail in the Brawlhalla x Tekken event that only veteran players will recognize

Ubisoft brawler and crossover-extraordinaire Brawlhalla has just announced a new collaboration with Tekken, and fans have already seen some awesome callbacks.

Brawlhalla, Ubisoft’s platform fighter/brawler title that’s been going strong with a steady community of players for over ten years, has just announced a brand new collaboration with Tekken that is sure to please fans of fighting games.

Developer Blue Mammoth Games revealed a small teaser for the crossover, titled Brawlhalla x Tekken, during its Summer Royale event that has just come to a close. In the short video (which you can find below) you can see the introduction of Devil Jin, Nina Williams, and Yoshimitsu, all of which are coming to the game in the form of premium skins on September 6.

As long-time fans of Tekken might have noticed, a curious thing about this collaboration is that Brawlhalla is not using the character’s newest designs, instead opting for previous legendary looks for two of the characters: Yoshimitsu is wearing his Tekken 3 costume, while Nina dons her legendary battle suit that many remember her in.

Brawlhalla is king of the crossovers

Joining forces with Bandai Namco to bring Tekken into the Grand Tournament of Brawlhalla is an amazing surprise, but one that isn’t too shocking. Not because we expected it, but because this isn’t the first external property to come to the game. And it most likely won’t be the last one.

If you’re wondering just how many crossovers you can find in Ubisoft’s brawler, the answer is “a lot.” take a look at a short list of previous crossovers:

  • Adventure Time
  • Steven Universe
  • Avatar: The Last Airbender
  • The Walking Dead

  • G.I. Joe
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
  • Kung Fu Panda
  • Castlevania
  • Hellboy
  • Shovel Knight
  • Halo
  • Tomb Raider
  • Rayman
  • Ben10

This new collaboration will also bring additional cosmetic items for players, as well as avatars, emotes, and more.
