The developer of the next BioShock game is “ramping up” production

It’s been a long time, but hopes for a new BioShock game are still strong with the developer in charge “ramping up” for it.

BioShock Infinite, the third game in the sci-fi shooter series designed by Ken Levine and Irrational Games, was released over ten years ago, but now hopes for a “BioShock 4″ are starting to come back.

Or at the very least, news that the studio currently in charge of bringing back the series, Montreal-based 2K Cloud Chamber, is now “ramping up” to enter production in full. This according to senior cinematic designer Jeff Spoonhower, who highlighted over 30 open positions in the studio in LinkedIn related to the upcoming BioShock title.

“The BioShock team at 2K Cloud Chamber is ramping up!” said Spoonhower in his post. “We have many p positions open across a variety of disciplines including art, animation, engineering, design, narrative, and production. We are working on a really awesome project, and our studio is remote-friendly.”

Given the wide variety of disciplines for which the studio is currently hiring, it’d be safe to assume that the announcement means that they’re only know entering the production cycle proper. It’s possible that the project has been in the planning phase for a number of years, and now that they have a strong vision for what it should be, they’re now able to actually get to work on building the game. However this also means that we’re still years away from actually seeing (let alone playing) a new BioShock game.
