The disgusting Netflix documentary no one wants to watch... but it’s topping the charts
The latest entry in the ‘Trainwreck’ series dives into a luxury cruise that turned into a floating toilet.

Netflix’s newest documentary, ‘Trainwreck: Poop Cruise’, is as revolting as its title suggests—and it’s also a massive hit. The 55-minute film recounts the infamous 2013 disaster aboard the Carnival Triumph, a luxury cruise ship that became stranded in the Gulf of Mexico after an engine room fire knocked out power, plumbing, and air conditioning for over 4,000 passengers.
A luxury cruise turned nightmare
What began as a four-day vacation from Galveston, Texas, to Cozumel, Mexico, quickly spiraled into chaos. With no working toilets, passengers were instructed to urinate in showers and defecate in red biohazard bags, which soon overflowed and lined the hallways. The ship’s interior became a biohazard zone, with raw sewage seeping into carpets, stairwells, and even elevator shafts.
As the ship drifted for days awaiting rescue, passengers created makeshift tents on deck to escape the stench below. Fights broke out over food and space, and the crew eventually opened the bar to calm tensions—only to see things spiral further out of control.
Why it’s trending despite the horror
Despite its grotesque subject matter, 'Poop Cruise’ has become Netflix’s #1 movie in the U.S., and it’s also climbing the charts in other countries. Viewers describe it as “disgusting but impossible to look away,” with many shocked by the conditions and the behavior of both passengers and crew.
The documentary is part of Netflix’s ‘Trainwreck’ series, which also includes deep dives into 'Woodstock ‘99′ and 'The Astroworld Tragedy’. Each installment explores real-life disasters that spiraled out of control, and 'Poop Cruise’ might be the most stomach-churning yet.
