Xbox Game Studios
The Elder Scrolls 6 will not be released on PS5, according to a Microsoft document
The game, which won’t be released until at least 2026, is planned as an Xbox console and PC exclusive, although Phil Spencer said it’s still undecided.
After the release of Starfield, Bethesda Game Studios is not only working on more content for its latest title, but has already set its sights on its next big project, none other than The Elder Scrolls VI. Announced simultaneously as the space game, the fantasy title has been in pre-production for years.
So far, all indications have been that it will be exclusive to the Xbox and PC ecosystems, but Phil Spencer, head of the Xbox division, let it be known that the decision has not yet been made. However, an internal document presented during the process with the FTC (via Tom Warren) has revealed that the intention is that it will be exclusive.
The document, titled “Microsoft’s approach following [ZeniMax Media] acquisitions since 2018,” graphically shows that The Elder Scrolls Vi will not be released on the PS5 or any other PlayStation console. In addition, the launch will be delayed, something Bethesda has repeated several times. According to this information, the role-playing title has no date, but it is not expected until 2026 or later.
Is the Elder Scrolls VI exclusive to Xbox? Microsoft: “We evaluate it on a case-by-case basis.”
“With the games we develop, we evaluate it on a case-by-case basis,” Phil Spencer responded in an interview with Bloomberg. We want to make sure our games are available in so many different places. On our Xbox consoles, on PC, also via cloud, these games can come to almost any web-enabled device.”
According to Spencer, their goal is to reach “millions and millions of players” as they have done with “Starfield and other Xbox Game Studios games.” For the executive, the goal is to give players the ability to choose where they play and build their own library of games.
Starfield is available for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Game Pass, and PC.
