The ending of White Lotus Season 3 explained: What do we know about next season?
Unexpected deaths, shocking confessions and a confirmed renewal: This is how The White Lotus ended in Thailand and what we know about the next installment.

The third season finale of HBO’s The White Lotus took us on a rollercoaster of emotions amidst the paradisiacal but deadly resort in Thailand. What began with a body floating in the resort’s waters culminated in a tragedy of revenge, secrets revealed, and decisions that changed fates forever.
Warning: Spoilers follow for the final episode of The White Lotus, Season 3:
Rick and Chelsea, a couple who minutes earlier were celebrating their engagement, end up embroiled in tragedy. Rick, blinded by anger and a thirst for justice after the supposed death of his father, murdered Jim Hollinger... only to discover that Jim was, in fact, his true ancestor. The mayhem didn’t end there; in the midst of a shootout with Jim’s bodyguards, Chelsea was fatally shot. In a desperate act, Rick carried his fiancée’s body, only to be killed by Gaitok, Sritala’s new ally, who had ordered her execution.
Meanwhile, another story on the brink of tragedy was that of Tim’s son Lochlan. He had accidentally ingested a poisonous fruit smoothie that his own father had originally intended to use to wipe out his family. Repentant, Tim confessed his crimes on the boat ride out of the resort, anticipating his imminent arrest in the U.S. for financial fraud.

It wasn’t all tragedy. The trio of friends—Kate, Jaclyn, and Laurie—overcame their conflicts and left Thailand closer than ever. A final montage showed the fate of the other characters: Greg, restless, watched his girlfriend Chloe flirt with another man; Frank sought spiritual solace in a temple; and Gaitok embraced his new role as Sritala’s bodyguard.
The most symbolic closure was for Belinda and her son Zion. The young man managed to negotiate a hefty sum from Greg in exchange for his silence about his possible involvement in Tanya’s death (Season 2). This unexpected victory came at a cost: Belinda gave up her dream of opening a spa with Pornchai, reflecting the disillusionment she also experienced in the first season. Now, hardened by circumstances, she sails away in a boat with her son, leaving behind the hotel staff and a hopeful Pornchai.
Will there be a Season 4 of ‘The White Lotus’? Here’s what we know so far.
Yes, and it’s official. HBO has renewed the show for a fourth season before the third season has even premiered. The announcement came in January 2025, and with record ratings—the penultimate episode drew 4.8 million viewers—the decision was a no-brainer for the network. Although the destination of the new installment has not yet been confirmed, Francesca Orsi, HBO’s head of drama, hinted that the fourth season will likely return to Europe.
