The first trailer for 'The Penguin', the spin-off series of 'The Batman' with an unrecognizable Colin Farrell
Ahead of the new film starring Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson, the director sets his sights on one of Gotham’s greatest villains.
“When I was a kid, there was a gangster, real old-school type, Rex Calabrese. He was a big deal. He helped people. If he saw you on the street, he’d call out to you. When I’m 14 or somethin’, he has a heart attack and dies, still holdin’ a cigar. In my neighborhood, they throw a parade in his honor. A friggin’ parade. And it wasn’t fancy, but it was the gesture. The show of love, of what he meant. Can you imagine? To be remembered like that?”
This is Colin Farrell’s speech in the first trailer for ‘The Penguin’, the new installment of the ‘Batman’ saga. The Bat movie with Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson will have a spin-off series coming this fall to Max (formerly known as HBO Max, which just changed subscriptions and catalog). The production, also with Reeves at the helm, will tie in with the sequel to the original film, ‘The Batman II’, scheduled for October 2, 2025.
The Penguin’ will be one of the first productions of the new DC Universe prepared by James Gunn. After years of mediocre movies and shows, Warner wanted to turn things around and put the director of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and the last ‘Suicide Squad’ movie at the helm of their superhero division.

Let’s hope DC’s superheroes can turn things around and compete with Marvel, whose lack of competition seems to have led it to rest on its laurels.
