‘The Hunger Games’ protagonist reveals the one condition they have to return to the saga
One of the protagonists of ‘The Hunger Games’ movie series would like to come back to do more, with only one very difficult condition to do so.
The premiere last November of a prequel to ‘The Hunger Games’ has filled fans of the saga with expectations about its future, and one of its protagonists, Josh Hutcherson, spoke about the possibility of returning to the saga. A dream that seems distant, but to which the actor put a simple, if highly difficult, condition.
During an interview with Screen Rant, Josh Hutcherson mentioned the condition on which he would be willing to return to ‘The Hunger Games’ when asked if he would like to play Peeta Mellark again: “Absolutely. Absolutely. Getting me and Jen, Liam, Woody, and Elizabeth (Banks). If we get the whole gang back together, I’m in 100%.”
The future of ‘The Hunger Games’
Following the release of the book and theatrical release of ‘Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’, many wonder if there will be more installments of ‘The Hunger Games’ in the future. The last release of the saga was a prequel that placed us several decades before the original story, taking fans of the work to a past that has made them better understand what happened.
As of today, it does not seem likely that we will have, at least in the short or medium term, more films about ‘The Hunger Games,’ and there are no more books written by Suzanne Collins, and the director of the saga, Francis Lawrence, made it clear during an interview with Entertainment Weekly that any future installment has to be based on Collins’ work: “I liked being part of the series originally because the stories are great, But what was always gratifying was that they were always about something. Suzanne [Collins] always writes from a thematic foundation. The original ones were all about the consequences of war. [The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is] about the state of nature. That’s what makes them feel rich and not superficial, and I think it’s why they’ve stood the test of time, honestly.”
He ended by revealing that “If Suzanne has another thematic idea that she feels fits into the world of Panem – whether that’s with new people [or] familiar characters [like] Finnick, Haymitch, whoever – I’d be really interested in looking at it and being a part of it. But I don’t have any pull of just going, ‘I would love to do Finnick’s games.’ He’s a great character, but what’s the thematic underpinnings that make it worth telling and relevant?”
