The key date when Nintendo Switch discounts will end: only a few days left to enjoy the Gold Points
Nintendo fuels rumors of a price hike with Switch 2 by limiting its discount program.

A blow to Nintendo’s discount program. The company puts an end to the collection of the famous gold points, the currency that allowed players to obtain discounts around the eShop. In fact, the limit is soon, practically at the gates of the Direct focused on Switch 2.
These are the changes that Nintendo is making to its discount program
According to Nintendo’s official website, users will still be able to receive gold points for their purchases and reservations until March 24. From that point on, the points in the wallet will be valid for up to 12 months from the date of purchase.
But that’s not all. The changes also extend to Nintendo Switch Game Voucher. All Nintendo Switch Online subscribers (which will also be available on the new console) will be able to purchase a $99.98 voucher that will allow them to redeem 2 games of their choice from a list of select, mostly first-party titles. These vouchers, which are available on the current console, will not be redeemable for Nintendo Switch 2 titles such as the upcoming Mario Kart.
Not surprisingly, this is fueling rumors of a possible software price increase. Currently, the company’s policy is inconsistent. The average price for most of its licensed titles is $59.99, but there are exceptions. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom have an MSRP of $69.99 in both physical and digital formats. Donkey Kong and Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition will drop to $49.99 and $29.99, respectively.
None of these changes will affect the Platinum Points program, which can be earned by completing in-game challenges and other achievements. The My Nintendo Store rewards program will also remain unchanged.
