The Last of Us 2: Remastered is Naughty Dog’s next game according to a leak

In addition to the bad news about The Last of Us 2′s multiplayer, one of Naughty Dog’s next games could be another remaster.

The Last of Us 2: Remastered

We have good news and bad news. Although to tell the truth, we are not very clear which is the good and which is the bad. The thing is that while The Last of Us multiplayer game seems to be in a terminal state, Naughty Dog already has other projects in hand and the closest of them has been leaked: a facelift for The Last of Us 2 on PS5. This is according to a description on LinkedIn of Mark Pajarillo, who has been working in the studio since January 2021 (more than three years).

“Responsible for overseeing the production of all outsourced environment art assets, weapons, and interactive props for two iconic titles The Last of Us: Part One and The Last of Us 2: Remastered.” As the information went viral, it didn’t take long for the information to be corrected, and we all know that where there is smoke... Will we hear from Naughty Dog in 2024, or will the studio wait for the second season of the series?

Naughty Dog is going through a tough time

Considering that The Last of Us: Part 2 has already been updated to 60fps on the PS5, one wonders what improvements and content a remastered version could add. What is clear is that Naughty Dog is not having its best moment, at least on a creative and productive level. Since the launch of the sequel in 2020, the company has only released the remake of the original (with severe problems on PC) and has accumulated a series of unflattering rumors about the status of the multiplayer project.

Regarding the latter, the company’s multiplayer, which had aspired to be like Uncharted: The Lost Legacy until Bungie signed with Sony, reviewed all of the company’s service games and decided that this one missed the mark. In fact, Neil Druckmann seems to have already turned the page, saying that they have another great game in the works and that the decision on The Last of Us 3 has been made. We’ll see how it turns out.
