The Marvels pits Brie Larson versus Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau in its first teaser
Known until recently as Captain Marvel 2, The Marvels has just released a first teaser trailer for the epic cosmic powered team-up with two of the newest heroes in the MCU.
Since The Marvels(a movie that we had come to know as Captain Marvel 2) was recently delayed, Marvel Studios wanted to compensate the fans with a first official look of the film, now scheduled for November 10, 2023. In it, we can see the trio of protagonists in action (Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani) and we even see a fight between the three superheroines (Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Ms. Marvel, respectively).
Under a slogan that seems written by Daft Punk: “Higher. Further. faster. Together”, The Marvels leave the 90s in which Captain Marvel was set behind, and will instead take place in the present of the MCU, justifying Brie Larson’s undaunted look in the same way that it was done in Avengers: Endgame (that is, by her powers born of the Tesseract and her half-skrull, half-kree blood, capable of slowing down aging).
Rumors suggest that in this story Captain Marvel will act as a mentor to her companions and the three of them will be involved in an adventure with cosmic overtones (after all, we have already entered the Multiverse saga, with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania post-credits scenes giving a good account of it). Fans are betting on Veranke as the main villainess, who in the comics is the queen of the Skrull empire that introduced all kinds of members of her species to Earth and that is precisely the one behind the events of Secret Invasion, the comic story which inspires the Marvel series that Disney+ has in store for the coming months and that, seen in this way, could serve to introduce the antagonist of The Marvels.
