MCU

The MCU actor and director vetoed by Kevin Feige, who will never return to Marvel

Kevin Feige has blacklisted two old friends from the Marvel Universe, and we shouldn’t count on them in future superhero shows and movies.

There is friction between the Avengers, as there is between colleagues in any profession. This is revealed in MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, the new book on the Marvel Universe that reveals all the hidden secrets behind the films that have cemented the pantheon of modern society’s heroes.

Signed by Gavin Edward, Dave Gonzalez, and Joanna Robinson, the book delves into the behind-the-scenes stories of the MCU, and there’s one that shows that success hasn’t always led to smiles and flowers. In fact, some movies have led to lifelong feuds. For example, Kevin Feige, Marvel Entertainment’s chief creative officer as of 2019, has permanently banned two actors from future projects.

If the Inhumans could be rehabilitated, apparently everyone in MCU history was on Feige’s call list,” the book reads. “except Edward Norton, the franchise’s first Bruce Banner, and Joss Whedon, whose Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. characters remained in limbo.”

Norton’s relationship with Marvel was an open secret. The actor walked away from The Incredible Hulk, citing “creative differences” and allowing Mark Ruffalo to bring to life the Bruce Banner we all know and love today. Feige explained it this way at the time:

“”We have made the decision to not bring Ed Norton back to portray the title role of Bruce Banner in The Avengers. Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members.”

Whedon is even stranger, as he was the director and screenwriter of the first ‘Avengers’ and ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’ movies. He always got along well with the studio... until he took the helm of the ‘Agents of SHIELD’ series.

According to the book, Feige was upset with the way Wedhon handled the series, as some of the events he suggested conflicted with what happened in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. As a result, the fights between the two continued and eventually reached a point of no return. When the series was canceled, the friendship between both of them also came to an end.
