The Madhouse fantasy series competes with ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ for the title of most anticipated premiere of early next year.
While fans of ‘One Punch Man’ continue to long for the quality of the series’ first episodes, Madhouse studio continues to surprise everyone with its excellent work on ‘Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’, one of the most beautiful and emotional anime series of recent times. Two years after winning over both critics and audiences, the adaptation of the manga by Tsukasa Abe and Kanehito Yamada will return in style in January 2026 with its second season, and expectations couldn’t be higher. Especially after the new trailer that was released this morning.
As promised yesterday, Toho Animation shared another preview of season 2 of ‘Frieren’, showing some of the places Stark, Fern, and the elf will visit soon. It also confirms the return of characters who appeared in the last arc of the series, such as Wirbel, and the arrival of new enemies who will stand in their way on their journey to the Demon King’s castle. But that’s not all, as the end of the trailer shows that we will once again have flashbacks of the journey Frieren took decades ago with her former companions: Himmel, Heiter, and Eisen. Are we in for another tearjerker?

The good news is that we won’t have to wait too long to enjoy the second season of ‘Frieren’. It is scheduled to premiere on January 16, 2026, and will be broadcast exclusively on Crunchyroll, where it will compete against other series such as ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ for the title of most popular anime at the beginning of next year.
