The Muppets are officially crossing over with Marvel in a new What If…? one-shot comic
‘The Muppets Take the Marvel Universe #1’ arrives in September with anthology stories pairing Kermit and friends with Marvel icons.

The world of comics has treated us to some completely unexpected crossovers. From the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Batman to stranger pairings like Archie vs. Predator. But this September brings one that will leave no one indifferent: the arrival of ‘The Muppets Take the Marvel Universe’.
Marvel has announced a new ‘What If…?’ issue in which The Muppets will team up with iconic Marvel Comics characters. This crossover will arrive in September with the one-shot ‘The Muppets Take The Marvel Universe #1’, created by writer Chip Zdarsky and artist Pete Woods, along with Ashley Allen, MacKenzie Cadenhead, Kyle Starks, David Baldeon, Mike Henderson, and more.
What will ‘The Muppets Take The Marvel Universe #1’ be about?
In addition to serving as part of the 50th-anniversary celebrations of ‘The Muppet Show’, the comic will feature stories in which Jim Henson’s characters interact directly with Marvel characters in an anthology series. The comic features a series of standalone stories in which iconic Muppet characters collide with Marvel heroes in unexpected ways: Mojo kidnaps Rowlf the Dog to power a new streaming empire, prompting an unlikely rescue mission; Muppet Labs hosts a disastrously ambitious experiment involving Bruce Banner and Hank Pym; the Swedish Chef aids Doctor Strange when mystical medicine fails; and the crew of Pigs in Space stumbles into cosmic mayhem alongside Rocket Raccoon and Groot. Across these tales, the book celebrates pop culture absurdity, superhero tropes, and Muppet-style comedy through playful, self-aware storytelling by a wide range of creators.
The comic will also feature several variant covers, including one with Kermit and Spider-Man, and another with Ghost Rider and Gonzo.
