The new Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller will arrive with an upgrade that many have been expecting
Nintendo is redesigning its flagship controller with major improvements.

The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller has always been appreciated for its comfort and features, but one of its weaknesses has been its long charging time. Fortunately, Nintendo has listened to the community, and the new Pro Controller designed for the Nintendo Switch 2 promises to significantly improve this area.
According to technical information provided by Nintendo itself (via NintendoLife), the new Switch 2 Pro Controller will require approximately 3.5 hours to reach a full charge, always using the appropriate cables. This is a significant improvement over the nearly six hours required by the original model. Best of all, it retains the same 40-hour battery life, which means less time tethered to a charger and more time playing games.

What comes with the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller?
But charging speed is not the only new feature. The Switch 2 Pro controller includes features exclusive to the new console, such as the new C button, HD Rumble 2 haptic vibration, and two additional rear buttons (GL and GR) that open the door to new control and customization options in games. It’s also a bit more compact and lighter, measuring 105mm x 148mm x 60.2mm and weighing 235 grams, compared to 106mm x 152mm x 60mm and 246 grams for its predecessor. It also adds a much-requested improvement: a headphone jack, which was missing on the previous model.
As for familiar features, the controller retains gyroscope and NFC support and comes with a USB-C charging cable in the box.
And if you want to keep using your current controller, the good news is that the original Pro will be compatible with the Switch 2. However, it will not be possible to turn the console on by pressing the home button, a feature exclusive to the new model.
