Waze

The new Waze is here: all the updates and how to turn it off on iPhone

Google’s navigation app is getting 6 new features this year that will help drivers continue to have safer and more predictable trips.

Waze, Google’s navigation application, is a basic tool for drivers, helping to plot the best route to reach their destination and spend the least time in traffic, although sometimes this has some unexpected turns. Today, through its official blog, it announced the 6 new features that will arrive throughout the year, with which it seeks the drive of users and their community, to have better information when navigating.

The 6 new features that will arrive on Waze in 2024

From how to navigate a roundabout, to knowing if there are emergency vehicles on the road, to parking information, here are the 6 updates this app is getting for Android and iOS:

  1. Navigating tricky roundabouts: If you’re used to the wonders of roundabouts, the app will now clearly tell you where to enter, which lane to choose, and even where to exit so you don’t go too far and end up like Clark Griswold spinning around in National Lampoon’s European Vacation. This update will be available to users worldwide later this year.
  2. Help keep first responders safe along your route: One of the basics of driving is keeping the road open for vehicles like ambulances. Now you can know if an emergency vehicle is stopped along your route so you can adjust your driving and keep first responders safe. This update is available today in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and France, with more countries coming soon.
  3. Never miss a speed limit: If the last thing you want is a speeding ticket, Waze will help you reduce your speed earlier by warning you in advance when you enter a zone where the speed limit is about to decrease. This update is rolling out globally this month.
  4. More info in the road: New warning in the road will appear thanks to Waze’s community. Now you’ll get early warnings about speed bumps, toll booths and sharp curves. This update will arrive this month globally.
  5. Stress-free parking options: Finding the right parking garage can be a hassle, but now users will have more information about whether it’s wheelchair accessible, covered, has valet parking, and even how much it costs. This will roll out in major cities across Canada and the US in the coming weeks.
  6. More information about your favorite routes: If you’re used to having a favorite route, even if it’s not the fastest, Waze will now give you more information about it, including live traffic updates. This will make it easier to compare your routes with those that may be better options. The update is coming later this month.

How to turn off Waze on iPhone?

And to help the community, here’s how to turn off Waze on iPhone.

  1. Open Waze
  2. Tap the menu button (the one that looks like a hamburger)
  3. Tap Sleep.

This will make Waze inactive, and you can close it by swiping up from the bottom of the screen and then sliding the Waze window up until it disappears.
