Dragon Ball

The one villain Goku couldn’t defeat alone: It wasn’t Hit, nor Jiren, but one from ‘Dragon Ball GT’

This powerful mutant from Planet M2 forced Goku to rely on teamwork to survive.

Update:

Throughout the 'Dragon Ball' saga, Goku has taken down some of the most fearsome villains in anime history: from Frieza and Cell to Majin Buu, Hit, and Jiren. But in ‘Dragon Ball GT’, there’s one antagonist who managed to do what few others could: General Rilldo actually overpowered Goku when he fought alone.

Episode 21: “A Secret Revealed” (Dragon Ball GT)

In this pivotal episode, Goku and Pan infiltrate Dr. Myuu’s lab on Planet M2, only to be ambushed by General Rilldo, a powerful machine mutant. Despite Goku’s best efforts, Rilldo traps him using a metal transmutation attack, turning both Goku and Pan into slabs of metal.

It’s only thanks to Giru’s intervention, and Pan’s support, that Goku is freed and able to regroup. Together, the trio manages to escape and fight back, but the episode makes one thing clear: Goku couldn’t defeat Rilldo on his own.

Why Rilldo stands out

  • Hyper Meta-Rilldo is one of the few villains who physically immobilizes Goku
  • His abilities include metal manipulation, energy absorption, and fusion with the planet itself
  • Goku was in his child form due to the Black Star Dragon Balls, limiting his power output
  • The fight required teamwork, not brute strength, a rare scenario for Goku
