The reason why Fortnite has never gotten any Nintendo characters has been revealed

Epic Games was interested in a Metroid and Samus Aran crossover, but it seems like Nintendo couldn’t come to an agreement over the use of its characters.

Donald Mustard has been a part of the video game industry for over 25 years, with a good part of them having been spent at Epic Games, where he held the position of ‘Chief Creative Officer’ for a long time. We say “it came” because everything comes to an end and the veteran decided to retire from office at the end of September last year. However, Game File has taken him out of that early retirement for a very complete interview in which they reflect on the past, present, and future of Fortnite.

In it, what was an open secret has been confirmed: Fortnite has tried to have Nintendo characters come to the game repeatedly. The creative leader of Epic Games has even revealed the real reason why the collaboration never ended. According to Mustard, Nintendo “got really hung up” on the idea of their heroes appearing “on platforms that weren’t their platform.”

Nintendo was open to the agreement, but only if the skins were exclusively available on Nintendo Switch. Epic Games ended up rejecting the idea because they wanted “Fortnite to be the same experience no matter what screen or device you are playing on,” but they didn’t give up. And by the way, if anyone is wondering, said negotiation was over Samus Aran, from Metroid.

These days Fortnite news involves the arrival of Billie Eilish to Festival Season 3, a new scam that spreads through the community and seeks to steal your data (If you receive this message, do not pay attention), as well as for the newest Fortnite survey outfits of April 2024..
