The resurrection of Halo: Xbox announces future of the franchise, bids farewell to 343 Industries

The company announces several Master Chief games on the way and confirms that they will be using Unreal Engine 5, with major changes in the studio responsible.

Tired of watching Master Chief die, Microsoft has decided to take matters into its own hands once and for all. The company wants to revive what was once one of the spearheads of the Xbox and has announced a series of major changes that will “mark the beginning of a new chapter for the franchise.” Through a video called “A New Dawn”, the executives have revealed what they have been working on since the launch of Halo Infinite. It is called “Project Foundry”, a kind of internal research to “explore the creative potential of the new generation of Halo games.

Halo says goodbye to 343 Industries and hello to Unreal Engine 5

The first news is the farewell of 343 Industries, the developer will change its name and will be known from now on as Halo Studios. It will stop experiments and side projects and focus all its efforts on the saga. The second is another farewell, that of the Slipspace engine. As promising as it was at the time, the graphics engine of Halo Infinite has done nothing but cause headaches and from now on will rely on the Unreal Engine 5.

Finally, the most important thing of all: the confirmation that “multiple projects” are already in the works. Will 2025 be the year in which we know the name of the new Halo game? Will it look like the first images of the saga that have been shared in Unreal Engine 5? Do you think its resurrection is possible or is it unfeasible at this point? One thing is clear to us: never bet against Master Chief.
