The ‘Sand Land’ anime just got a release date and streaming details
Based on the Akira Toriyama one-shot manga, the series expands on the movie released last year with a game also coming soon.
We finally have a release date for the ‘Sand Land’ anime. The series based on the cult classic manga by Akira Toriyama will premiere internationally on Disney+ on March 20, 2024, with a simultaneous release on Hulu for the US. It will be composed of 13 episodes, with the first 7 released that day, and new episodes being added weekly from then on (meaning it will be complete by May 2024).
But there is more. We also already know what the anime’s relationship is with the film of the same name that was released in Japan on August 18, 2023. Apparently, the first six chapters of this new adaptation will cover the events of the movie, although they will contain expanded scenes. From the seventh episode onward, the story will go beyond what has been previously seen in the manga or the movie, with a script written by Akira Toriyama himself.
The Sand Land game is also coming soon
Although the manga was published in 2000, it wasn’t until last year that the world saw more of the series again. All on the occasion of a movie that took Japan by storm and that, unfortunately, did not end up getting a worldwide release. After a bit of a wait, the rest of the world will be able to enjoy the revived franchise by way of this episodic anime adaptation, as well as its own video game adaptation that will be released on April 26, 2024.
The game is an Action RPG title developed for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, in which you’ll get to explore the world of Sand Land as the demon king’s son, Beelzebub, and his trusty companions. Besides getting in close with hand to hand combat, you’ll get to ride and customize a wide variety of vehicles and mechs to take on the dangers of the desert, as well as help build a thriving town with the people you help along the way.
