The search for the next James Bond officially begins as Amazon MGM confirms casting process
After months of speculation, the studio has confirmed casting is underway for Bond 26, with a new creative team already in place.
Excitement is at an all-time high as we wait to find out who will play James Bond next. After several months of rumors, endless lists of potential candidates, and reports from people claiming that one actor or another will be the next man in the tuxedo, the search for the next actor has officially begun.
This was officially announced by Amazon MGM Studios, which released an official statement on Thursday afternoon: “The search for the next James Bond is underway. While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right.”

According to exclusive information from Variety, Nina Gold will be in charge of finding Daniel Craig’s replacement. The 2025 Oscar nominee for Best Casting for ‘Hamnet’ has helped find talent for series such as ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Rome,’ ‘Chernobyl,’ and ‘The Crown,’ as well as films such as ‘The Martian,’ ‘Hot Fuzz,’ ‘Conclave,’ and ‘Les Misérables.’
The Long Wait for the 26th James Bond Film
In the middle of last month, Courtenay Valenti, head of film at Amazon MGM, appeared at CinemaCon to temper expectations about the franchise’s future. She noted that the studio is “taking the time to do this with care and deep respect,” considering it “a responsibility we don’t take lightly.”

The next James Bond film will be directed by Denis Villeneuve and written by Steven Knight. To date, numerous names have been mentioned as potential candidates for the role of James Bond, as the production is looking for a “fresh face”—a British actor in his late 20s to early 30s. For now, the list of alleged candidates includes Callum Turner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Richard Madden, Theo James, Josh O’Connor, Jacob Elordi, and Louis Partridge… among others.
