The second season of ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power’ already beats ‘House of the Dragon’ on Rotten Tomatoes

The series is currently streaming on Prime Video.

It is still too early to make any final judgments. While the second season of ‘House of the Dragon’ has already finished airing on Max, the new episodes of ‘The Rings of Power’ will still be running for several weeks. However, the trade press has already had access to almost the entire season, so reviews have been published over the past few days. According to Rotten Tomatoes, one of the most popular aggregators, the fiction of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ (Prime Video) surpasses Max’s production. While Season 2 of the ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off has 83%, the work based on Tolkien’s work currently averages 86%.

Everything has its nuances. In this case, the number of reviews is a factor to consider. While more than 267 professional critics have rated Season 2 of ‘House of the Dragon’, only 84 have done the same with ‘The Rings of Power’. It is to be expected that as new reviews are published, these ratings will change and become more nuanced.

The audience rewards the series based on Martin’s books more: 74% versus 59% for The Rings of Power.

Martin to explain ‘what went wrong’ with ‘House of the Dragon

The ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel has faced some criticism over the season’s development. To add fuel to the fire, novelist and series co-creator George R.R. Martin has reported that he will be writing a new blog post to talk about everything that went wrong with ‘House of the Dragon’.

As for “The Rings of Power,” the show hasn’t been spared the rough language either. Not having the rights to all of Tolkien’s works, the showrunners had to invent some of the plots. In any case, the beginning was very promising, as we published in MeriStation.
