The Sims classics are back: EA surprises with re-release of first two games with all their DLC
For the first time, both games are available in digital format.

Electronic Arts is a company that, despite the incipient competition of games as promising as Paralives or InZoi, is still fully confident that it will keep The Sims as the leader of life simulators. It is one of its star franchises and, although it may seem incredible, its first installments were never released in digital format and could only be played if you owned them in physical format and relied on community patches to make them work on modern computers. Fortunately for everyone, that has just changed.
After years of waiting, EA has finally officially re-released The Sims and The Sims 2 in digital stores with a “Legacy Collection” that includes almost all of the expansions for both titles. The only DLC that isn’t part of this package is The Sims 2 IKEA Home Stuff, which was probably not included due to licensing issues. But that’s a lesser evil, because what’s really important is that as of today it’s possible to get the following editions on PC through the EA App, Epic Games Store and Steam:
- The Sims: Legacy Collection - $19.99.
- The Sims 2: Legacy Collection - $29.99.
- 25th Anniversary Pack (includes both games) - $39.99.
Two games that defined the simulation genre are finally available in digital format
Both The Sims and its sequel, The Sims 2, became two video games that forever defined the life simulator genre. Millions of users spent hundreds of hours creating their own virtual stories in the saga created by Will Wright, and now it is possible to relive all those moments in a comfortable way thanks to these much sought-after re-releases. The bad news is that all those who were expecting both installments to return with graphical improvements were disappointed; these are the same games that were available more than twenty years ago, but that’s not a bad thing, is it?
