The Super Mario Galaxy Movie fuels another popcorn bucket craze as Yoshi and Luma items sell out

You’d think that by 2026, the craze for popcorn buckets would have died down, but that’s not the case. And with the upcoming release of ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie,’ the hype is at an all-time high, and that Yoshi popcorn bucket looks pretty great. However, Cinemark has already sold out of the first wave of merchandise in its online store. Both the Yoshi and Luma versions were released earlier this month on the Cinemark online shop and sold out almost instantly.

This does not mean, however, that the hunt for these items is over. Cinemark has confirmed that in-theater sales began on March 21. So if you weren’t able to get one through the online store, heading to your nearest Cinemark early will be your only chance to get one. If for some reason you can’t go to the theater for the popcorn bucket and prefer to shop online, they’ve also announced a feature that notifies you when these collectible items are back in stock, ensuring you’re among the first to know when they arrive.

Iconic designs for every collector

The collection offers a variety of ways to celebrate the film’s cosmic setting. The Luma LED Popcorn Buckets, priced at $44.95, come in four distinct colors: blue, green, red, and yellow. Beyond just looking the part, these buckets feature a built-in LED light to mimic the glow of a star. The red and yellow versions feature a friendly smiling expression, while the blue and green variants sport a classic “surprised” look.

For those who want a more classic companion, the Yoshi Popcorn Bucket is available for $49.95. This detailed figure depicts Yoshi holding his signature egg. In a clever bit of design, the egg serves as the actual container, featuring a hatch on the front where you can store up to 105oz of popcorn—the same capacity found in the Luma variants.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will appear in theaters on April 1, 2026.
