There are only a few weeks left until the premiere of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the second animated film produced by Nintendo and Illumination. It’s been just over a month since we got our last glimpse, with the reveal of Yoshi as part of the film. Since then, rumors have been swirling about new characters, but that all ended today. A Nintendo Direct gave us a new look at the film where we met new voices as well some of the paraphernalia behind the movie.

A Mario Day Celebration

The new trailer shows Peach’s castle being kidnapped and Bowser Jr. managing to rescue his father, despite the trauma of multiple toads. Some new characters appearing in this trailer include Wart and Birdo from Super Mario Bros. 2, while we see new costumes, transformations, and space adventure.

Miyamoto-san went on to talk about March 10, or Mario Day, thanking fans for their support. He also highlighted the arrival of some classic characters and said he hopes fans will enjoy them. Miyamoto also talked about how Mario and his friends’ new adventure is part of the 40th anniversary celebrations.

The cast of the film also spoke about their experience with the film. The new actors who will be voicing some of the characters in this film were also revealed, including Luis Guzman as Wart, Issa Rae as HoneyQueen, and Donald Glover as Yoshi.

In addition to this, it was revealed that starting on March 10, the Nintendo Today app will release 40 collectible cards leading up to the movie’s premiere.
