‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ reveals its biggest surprise cameo a week before its theatrical release
Nintendo has beaten the leaks to the punch and unveiled another crossover that is leaving many fans speechless.
Even though there are only a few days left until the premiere of ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ in theaters around the world, Nintendo and Illumination have gone and spoiled one of the film’s biggest surprises. Just a few minutes ago, a new poster featuring Fox McCloud himself was shared. The main character from the Star Fox video game series will join Mario, Yoshi, and the gang in this highly anticipated space adventure to thwart Bowser Jr.’s plans.
Fox McCloud fans were thrilled to see him make the leap to the big screen, and among them, his creator’s reaction stood out. Takaya Imamura, the character’s designer, stated on X that he is “overwhelmed with emotion” and wanted to publicly thank Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario, for making this major crossover possible.
Fox McCloud won’t miss out on Mario and friends’ space adventure
Given that the movie premieres on April 1, many fans have expressed frustration that Nintendo shared this “spoiler” on social media. However, some believe that if they did this, it must be because ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ still has a good handful of surprises up its sleeve that no one sees coming. Is it time to introduce Wario and Waluigi? Will there be more crossovers with other Nintendo universes? The possibilities are almost endless.

Beyond Fox McCloud’s appearance, it has been confirmed that the Pikmin will also appear throughout the film. In light of this string of crossovers, fan theories are growing that suggest Nintendo may be planning a major cinematic event centered around Super Smash Bros., the video game in which dozens of characters from numerous video game franchises battle each other. Do you think this is possible?
